Capsula has returned with their sophomore album and sonic masterpiece, In The Land of Silver Souls (Krian Music Group). The trio collectively creates a musical storm, a whirlwind of psychedelic wonder and punk rock fury. Their music roars with a combination of garage rock toughness and modern style that have earned them a wide range of comparisons from The Stooges and The Pixies to Sonic Youth and David Bowie.

Although the band now lives in Bilbao, Spain, all three were born in Argentina. You don't have to understand every lyric of a Capsula song to capture the unbound emotion of their dirty rock. Their first single "Hit 'n' Miss" kicks off with a classic garage rock riff, and can be streamed below.

Don't miss Capsula while they tour the US in 2012, following their third SXSW showcase!

Nive of the band shared a little note with us on this special track, below:

"Christmas is just magical. I love Christmas so much that I
turn into a little kid again every year. And I just had to make a song about it
So many wonderful things happen: not just the wrapping then
unwrapping of gifts (yay!) but the
sitting together in front of the fire place watching the snow fall
while drinking hot cacao, the smell of fresh baked cookies,
The South American psychedelic rockers, Capsula, are celebrating this holiday season by releasing a Ramones' cover, "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." Capsula have made a sweeter, sort of dreampop version of the song, where Coni (vocalist, bassist) also exchanges "Boyfriend" for "Girlfriend." Along with the track, they have dropped a music video for it, where the band dons those red and white christmas hats Santa Claus is known for popularizing.

Capsula played last year's Culture Collide and you can find a video of their performance at Taix here.

The déjà vu vibes were high as I boarded my Icelandair flight and readied for another sub-arctic expedition to attend the 2011 edition of Iceland Airwaves. It seemed like I had just done this a few months earlier despite the fact an entire year had somehow passed by. While en route, I watched some Icelandic tv on my personal screen while planning on revisiting some highlights from last year as well as catching some of the things I missed out on. Five hours later, we arrived at the airport in Keflavik where my winter coat and other cold weather gear was immediately unpacked to fight off a blast of shivers this New Yorker hadn't felt since March. Seriously, no matter how much you try to psych yourself up for an extreme change in weather, it's always a bit tough to adjust. Luckily I'm tough as nails and handled the wintery weather like a pro for the rest of the journey.
