Honduras, a Brooklyn by way of Missouri four piece, is careening into indie power punk world domination with their raucous new super fun video, “Mistake.”
No stranger to the Bushwick punk scene, Tyson Moore (guitar, vocals), Josh Wehle (drums), and Paul Lizarraga (bass), have been perfecting their staccato guitar shifts and anarchistic instrumental sweeps framed within a few select power chords since 2012. Three years and two EP's later, the tight orchestration is a hard hitting backdrop to the vaguely Brit sounding, zero f*cks given snarl of charismatic frontman Patrick Phillips, garnering praise and comparisons to the Sex Pistols and Dead Boys.
In “Mistake,” the rhythmic thrash of guitars bobbing and weaving around Phillips’ controlled apathy eventually gives way to blatantly cynical vocals recalling Sid Vicious (one of the band’s many influences). In the perfect vocal irony/big finish genius move, Phillips and company take it into the 2010’s with background 'aahs' sailing over the lead vocals for an unexpected gesture of cocky indifference.
