Meet fresh new artist Brendan Hangauer (aka Empty Moon).
We have the premiere of the Oakland-based singer/songwriter's video for debut single, “75 Degrees.” His first solo album, The Shark, will drop November 4 via High Dive Records but Hangauer is no novice to the biz. He recently left Kansas, ending his 10-year stint with band (“and brothers” he notes), Fourth of July. He now resides in the sunshine state where The Shark was created and this video was shot.
Since announcing the album last month, Hangauer has seen comparisons to Will Oldham and early Bright Eyes. There's no denying the resemblance. The colorful video fuses seamlessly with his sweet, simple yet sharp sound. It's your classic indie love story and then some. Hangauer comments, “I directed, shot, and edited the video for a photography class I took at a community college in Lake Merritt months after moving to Northern California.” Check out Empty Moon's hard work:
