The dizzying, but grooving sounds of Japanese psychedelic/prog-rock band Sundays & Cybele, are in full force for their new full-length album Chaos & Systems due out on February 24th. This is the first album they will be releasing through the Brooklyn-based label, Beyond Beyond is Beyond. Their previous material was released under Japanese label Gurguru Brai. Members of the band include: Kazuo Tsubouchi, Yoshinao Uchida, Shota Mizuno, and Shotaro Aoki, all originally from Japan.
The new album covers a multitude of styles, and the band’s experimentation results in a listening experience that is anything but redundant. From the dripping-wet electronic sounds of the track “Chaos & Systems,” and the psychedelic guitar riffs of “Butterfly’s Dream,” to the light pop of “Tell Me The Name Of That Flower” — the album is a noisy treat to partake.
The full release of Chaos & Systems is set for February 24th and is available for pre-order here.
The band also shared some of their favorite hometown spots from yakitori to the best onsen:
What is your favorite bar or restaurant in Piss Alley/Memory Alley (Shinjuku district)?
There is a yakitori place called Tatsunoya. They always play the best psych music.
Which neighborhood has the best yakitori?
There is a small nice district in Ebisu where you can find lots of yakitori places.
Best onsen in Tokyo? (hot springs/bath house)
I would recommend Komae-Yu. Go (Kikagaku Moyo) and I love this place. I really like the sound quality of the radio in sauna.
Where is the most kawaii place to spend an afternoon in Tokyo?
Kitasenjyu: you can find many kawaii old workers who drink sake on weekdays.
